Hi All, this is my first of hopefully many posts. I wanted
to tell you what my goals for this site will be. I am hoping to write a
blog every two weeks posted on Saturdays, about different writing topics and
about my life and my work so that you can get to know me better. After this
first opener post my next two posts will be the continuing story of my
journey as an author. The first part to this story is on my, (My Author History)
page. I hope you will read that first to know where my story begins.
A couple of notes about me; I am a pretty simple girl that
enjoys the simple things in life, writing, (obviously), reading, visiting with
friends and family and taking care of my son. I am originally from a very small
town in Vermont
where everyone knew everything about one another. The town is on an island in
the middle of a lake and when I was young we did not have cable on the island
or many exciting things to do. I am thirty five and grew up in the eighties and
nineties so there were not the amount of electronics for kids to play with then that there are
today. We used our imaginations for fun and I was luckily very close with my
siblings. We created lots of fun, imaginative games and it was with that
imagination that I first started writing stories for pleasure.
I continued to write throughout my life, (you can read more
about this in my journey as an author posts). As an adult writing continues to
be a fun thing for me to do. That is not to say that it is always easy, (I will
explain more in future posts about my process). For me though, writing is
something I do for myself and it is something I enjoy. If it ever became
something I did not look forward to I would stop. Hopefully it will be a long
time until that happens.
I really hope to inspire younger generations of writers to
follow their dreams and write stories and novels in order to express
themselves. I think that there are a lot of creative, imaginative people out
there who could produce interesting novels if they are not afraid to go
for it. Freedom of speech and expression is something that we thankfully have
in this country and I for one say why not use it for positive purposes not
negative ones.
Please feel free to contact me with questions or comments
anytime. More to come in future posts. I hope you all continue to read and
write yourselves. Remember, writing=happiness ;).
